Volunteer
If you are intersted to be a volunteer in Nepal, NHOC warmly welcomes you! Volunteering will give you a chance to make an important contribution to the people of Nepal. While doing so you gain an in-depth experience of the country and its culture that will stay with you the rest of your life. We recognize that every volunteer is unique. You can plan your own time and activities. You can think of the following activities:
- Act as older sibling: to care for, look after and encourage the children
- Assist the children with their daily homework
- Help the children improve their English language skills
- Assist the children and House Mothers with general jobs
- Teach the children vocational skills, musical instruments, etc (according to your talensts ofcourse)
- Play games, sports, teach songs, dance: generally just have fun with the children
In addition, we always appreciate if you:
- Donate clothes, toys, educational materials, etc for the children
- Have fundraising ideas and opportunities
- Can give vocational skills training
- Have ideas to attract sponsorships for our children.
We understand that volunteers are not only workers, but also want to experience Nepal, since it is a beautiful place and different from the western world. From Sunday to Friday, the children are in school from 9.30am-4.30pm. Then you can help around the house or sometimes take time to see Patan and Kathmandu Valley. NHOC is only a short minibus-ride away from the historic center of Patan.
Note that NHOC is able to provide you with homestay accommodation, sightseeing opportunities and assistance with booking tours & trekking. We also are in contact with pastors around the country who you can visit on a few days off.
